No matter how you slice it …

In Vol. XXII, Art. 39, back on Mar. 31, 2010, we commented on a story appearing in the Philadelphia Inquirer. The headline was, “Tioga terminal lands weekly Puerto Rico contract”… and the story went on to say;

“Sea Star Line L.L.C., of Jacksonville, Fla., wants to expand and bring products, including pharmaceuticals manufactured in Puerto Rico, to the Northeastern United States …

“The business is expected to create 60 to 70 jobs for longshoremen …” –

That newspaper blurb back then was intended to push the “Dredging = Jobs” issue, we pointed out, all while dwindling consumer demand continued to be ignored by the perpetrators of this dredging hoax.

Fast forward to this year and we see the following July 13th Journal of Commerce headline:

“Sea Star To End Philadelphia-Jacksonville-San Juan Service” … and the article’s first sentence makes it clear that, “Sea Star Line on July 22 will suspend its weekly service connecting Philadelphia; Jacksonville, Fla. and San Juan, Puerto Rico, because of a lack of business.” –

A “lack of business” simply means that there’s no consumer demand, and if there was any doubt about it CMA CGM made it unanimous. SHIPPING NEWS had previously announced that:

“CMA CGM drops Philadelphia from ever-shrinking Black Pearl service.” The story went on to state that “CMA CGM is cutting port calls and the number of ships linking the east coast of North America with the Caribbean and northern South America, according to ComPair Data.” –

In the last paragraph of that Mar. 31, 2010 commentary we wrote: “Simply put – when buyers demand goods, appropriately sized ships will deliver those goods. Without jobs, however, there are few buyers, limited demands for goods, and smaller ships making deliveries. It follows, therefore, that the dredging proposal is just another way of fleecing the sheep.” –

When, and if, those greedy politicians in Washington are ever forced to turn their attention away from the weapons manufacturing industry, only one avenue will be open to them. The country’s very existence will be at stake, and putting an end to the tailspinning economy, which they, themselves, engineered, can only be achieved by creating million of jobs – jobs that need to be available to unemployed Americans almost overnight. Not over several years, or months, but overnight.

FDR faced a similar crisis in the 1930s. The only solution then was to revitalize the nation’s shipyards, otherwise we were toast. And that’s the only solution now – or we’ll surely be toast.
