Here’s what Wikipedia tells us about the “Budget sequestration in 2013” – “In the United States federal budget, the sequester or sequestration refers to budget cuts to particular categories of federal spending that began on March 1, 2013 as an austerity fiscal policy. The cuts were enacted by the Budget Control Act of 2011 and initially set to begin on January 1 but that date was postponed by two months by the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. The spending reductions are approximately $ 85.4 billion (equivalent to $ 42 billion in actual outlays) during fiscal year 2013 with similar cuts for years 2014 through 2021. However, total federal outlays will continue to increase by an average of $ 238.6 billion per year during the next decade, although at a somewhat lesser rate because of the sequester.”- [But look at the money the Defense Department is throwing at the Navy!]

Add it up. It comes to $ 7,111,665,237. There was more, of course, but this what we were able to turn up. Sequestration was supposed to begin on March 1st, remember, but when we weren’t paying attention – or because we weren’t paying attention – $ 8,057,203,117 was handed over to the Navy in the month of March. Before sequestration, the combined amount for the months of October, November and January came to $ 7,685,731,854. But now we’re cutting back?
